Loading Dock Equipment

The Loading Dock is often overlooked for it's importance in our industry.  When you consider that all of your palletized or truckload distribution passes through this area of your business, it makes a difference how much weight you put on it's design and safety concerns.  Take the following into consideration around the loading dock:  Forklifts and Operators are entering and exiting containers, often blinded by a palletized load or operating in reverse.  Foot traffic in these areas is heightened by employees and also drivers and other delivery personnel.  Height limitations and differences between the warehouse height and loading dock doors.  Trailers' weight-shifts during loading and unloading by as much as 40,000 lbs.  Loading docks are typically 48-52" above ground level, often with no barrier between warehouse floor and the drop.  Building ramps are at a sharp decline and are often exposed to the elements like rain or freezing conditions.
